CONCERT REVIEWS

halfdust
Visually stunning. Amazingly nostalgic. Fresh and artistic. From the RnB back up singers, to the stringed instruments, and even the saxophone ... Trent and the band pulled off an amazing show ... with everyone multitasking to pull together the ambient sounds we all love so much. The only thing I wished I would have done different, is listen to the second half of the new material more before going to the concert. It seems that every time I start the album - distractions catch me. This lead to a partial familiarity with the newer material. That said - I completely disagree with the initial review of the first show in MN - on basis of taste. If you want a nostalgia tour - you should have gone to the Wave Goodbye show. That said - I was completely impressed with the song line up. The show kicked off with basic lighting and strong sound. And as the concert continued through Terrible Lie - March of the Pigs - and then Piggy - the lighting became more ambient and brought on that nostalgic feeling. Trent did a great job "sandwiching" his newer material in the middle and kept the flow/feeling/theme rolling. As All Time Low came to an end - the lighting show went up a notch - and then went overboard with new technology, brilliant contrasts, and techniques. It was a a psychedelic journey paced well. Then the Fragile stuff hit ... and came on strong with Into the Void (#cheer). It had the feel and look of Fragility, with the first crescendo being The Wretched - strong as ever. The wave crested and rested down towards A Warm Place - and the next wave hit with Somewhat Damaged, Wish, and Burn - all strong older songs. And it didn't let up until the next crescendo of Head Like a Hole. Finally - the encore - which started with a very eerie and "siren-ish" Even Deeper ... through some new, softer material - ending with Hurt. In the end - it was a journey from A to Z ... touching key moments in NiN history and blending it with the new, current, fresh sound and art that Reznor has brought to the table. Be prepared for a visual feast and Trent's unending, and impeccable ability to retain the sound in concert as on his recordings. Amazing.
